A Vegan Mass by Ron Dumas
He stands alone before the holiness. Subtle incense aroma whose origin is distant lands. Bhakti Yoga informs the free-flowing movement. The moment suspended in Samadhi blessed bliss.
In 1996, I had been going off and on to AA meetings. I was doing step work and took my first moral inventory. The next step on the ladder was making amends, which I attempted, and as a result became conscious of a lifetime of suppressed memory, which I experienced but had no idea how to deal with it. I had no sponsor and didn’t qualify to attend the meetings, because I didn’t have the desire to abstain from drinking. Yet, the step system was a great tool for introspection.
Early in 2009, I was in a better situation from an improved work routine. One winter day, I was walking out of the office, and I saw the lavender word in the sky “Abramelin”. When I got home, I researched and discovered the book, Sacred Magic of Abramelin the Mage, and I purchased an abridged version. This version just explained the Ritual and had the magic square. Performing the Ritual, I didn’t wear the magic square on my head or get past the first day or two.
The Ritual involved calling up all your sins as a sin offering. However, the book has barbaric overtones, telling the practitioner to invoke the tetragrammaton and ask for Dominion. I couldn’t ethically continue the operation, so I stopped.
Years later, reading Aleister Crowley in “Magick Without Tears”, Crowley advised not to even possess the Abramelin book. Crowley cited how suicides were caused from that book. MacGregor Mathers’ version differed greatly from my abridged version. The Mathers book had an inaccurate magic square. Also, the version I used, began the ceremony on a new moon, whereas the Mathers’ version begins six months before the autumn harvest.
At the end of 2009, I encountered Chronozon and crossed the Abyss. This force majeure developed into better circumstances by eventually moving into a larger space, and creating a new Yoga, with the sacred Yoga Sutra as its centerpiece.
In 2012, I thought up a way of dealing with recurring problems. I would count three weeks, writing down all the sins committed in that period, and expand the list to include all past sins. I was on a strict Vegan diet, but once every three weeks I would eat chicken and pray the sacrifice is acceptable and that I am forgiven.
This sacrifice ceremony evolved into a Vegan Mass. After concluding the ten Asanas of the Yoga Sutra and sending the holy water to the four Archangels, I present the sins as a sin offering and pray for forgiveness. Saying a blessing after dividing a vegan cracker into four parts, and then a blessing over wine. To receive this Eucharist is attaining the holy ghost.
The Evolution continues beyond the Mass. During Magical Evocations, a vivid painful memory surfaces from the distant past and the Magician creates this into a sin offering, asks for forgiveness, and thereby transcends the memory. Also, in Yoga Meditation a vivid memory may arise that can be transcended through this same technique.
In this Temple, with oils in the correct hour. In silence with internal voices revealing the knowledge with benevolence.
